Meet Your Board

My name is Kristin Kasselman and I am the West Region Business Director for
Zoetis Petcare (a U.S. business unit of Zoetis). Last year I joined WILMAH as a board member to support the WILMAH mission of inspiring and developing current and future women leaders in the animal health industry. I was excited to be a part of WILMAH because I believe that the people we surround ourselves with, both personally and professionally, are wildly important. For me personally, more than 10 years ago, marrying my best friend and finding a partner that was drawn to my ambition and independence has been a major influence on my happiness, strength and confidence as a leader.
Professionally, I am intentional about the people with whom I surround myself. At work, I am blessed to learn from a leadership team of eight women and men that are incredibly talented, supportive and giving leaders. Having spent 19+ years at Zoetis, working across different species groups, in different roles and different geographies, one of my developmental goals is broadening my perspective by growing my external network and learning from strong leaders with experiences and strengths that are different from mine. I am very thankful for the opportunity WILMAH provides to grow and learn from the experiences of other inspiring leaders. I am honored to give back by sharing what I’ve learned and helping others to navigate their career journey and find personal and professional fulfillment.

One of the leadership traits that I value the most and seek out is authenticity. I am passionate about building cultures where authenticity is supported and celebrated. As I reflect on my own career journey, the more I let go of thinking too much about other people’s opinions and instead focus more on being the best version of myself at home and work, the happier I am and the more my confidence grows to take on new challenges and lead in new capacities. A big part of being my best self at home and work is modeling my commitment to setting healthy boundaries and ensuring my self care and priorities at home come first.  In my opinion, the most authentic leaders are the most inspiring because they aren’t afraid to fail, they practice vulnerability and they aren’t wasting energy trying to please everyone and be something they’re not. At WILMAH, the leaders I have had the privilege to learn from have all been authentic, passionate and inspiring!

Mastering Mentoring
with Debra Benton

Join us for a two hour seminar at the annual USVA (previously AVDA) conference at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel, Nashville, TN with Debra Benton, a distinguished authority on leadership mentoring. Debra has over thirty years of experience as one of the nation's top C-suite coaches. WILMAH is excited to bring her engaging, entertaining and interactive speaking style to you in a workshop designed for your personal and professional development.

To climb the corporate ladder, you need to be more than just skilled and knowledgeable about your business, you need to be coachable — and be able to effectively coach others. Being a star performer isn't sufficient; you have to make star performers out of others by the coaching and mentoring you provide.

You will learn:

  • Coaching techniques you can apply to yourself and others
  • To self-evaluate and determine strengths and weaknesses
  • How to create a plan and set realistic and achievable goals for yourself and others
  • To prepare for uncertainty and the unexpected without losing your cool
  • Insightful and practical solutions to everyday leadership challenges

“Zoetis is a global animal health company dedicated to supporting customers and their businesses in ever better ways. Building on more than 65 years of experience, we deliver quality medicines, vaccines and diagnostic products, complemented by genetic tests, biodevices and a range of services. We are working every day to better understand and address the real-world challenges faced by those who raise and care for animals in ways they find truly relevant.

Our name, Zoetis, has its root in zo, familiar in words such as zoo and zoology and derived from zoetic, meaning “pertaining to life.” It signals our company’s dedication to supporting the veterinarians and livestock producers everywhere who raise and care for the farm and companion animals on which we all depend.” To learn more about Zoetis click here.

Celebrating Women Working in Animal Health

It’s International Women’s Day on March 8th. Elanco Senior Director of Companion Animal Global Marketing, Julia Loew, tells us how she supports women working in the animal health industry.

One of the shifts we’ve been watching unfold across our industry, certainly in developed countries, is the increasing number of women rising up through the ranks to senior positions at global animal health companies.

I’m excited to see more female leaders than when I started in the industry 22 years ago; but even with the shift, only 15% of the executives within the top 10 leading animal health companies are women. And, although I appreciate how far we have come, I also recognize an additional hill to climb for gender parity and more diverse leadership teams in animal health.

As a Diamond Sponsor Zoetis enjoys many benefits including 50 complimentary memberships, recognition as a sponsor at our events and during our webinars and much more. To learn more about becoming a corporate sponsor email us.
