Meet Your Board

Hi everyone! My name is Heidi Madsen and I manage Membership and Mentorship for WILMAH.  I work for Vetsource managing Partnerships and Alliances with both manufacturer partners and corporate accounts. Partnerships and Alliances are two of my favorite things, and two of the main motivations for me to join the WILMAH board. I started my career at Pfizer Inc in both the Human and Animal Health Divisions, and after leaving the Animal Health Industry to work on the human-side of medicine for a decade, have since made my way back home to this wonderful industry.
Despite the many mergers and innovative products over the last decade in our industry, the number of women in management and the C-suite remains surprisingly low.  That said, I was thrilled to jump back into this industry to seek out partners and allies to help elevate the many women that truly lead it.

Mentorship is one of our four pillars at WILMAH. I have had a handful of mentors in my career, both male and female, that have been instrumental in my personal and professional growth. With my fellow Board Member, Kristin Kasselman, we launched a grass roots effort around mentorship in 2019, and it has been fantastic seeing the mentor pods shape, grow and connect people.  Great mentors come with varying levels of expertise, from our closest friends and colleagues, to our managers and C-suite leaders. We all have something to offer as mentors and mentees, so please keep an eye out for our exciting 2020 Mentorship Program that will be launching in January!

Personally, I was raised in Hawaii and moved to California to study Animal Science at UC Davis. I have lived in Northern California ever since, and am married to converted animal lover, Jon. We have two very spirited kids, Ty (12) and Taylor (10), and 3 rescue cats. My wish for our kids is to seek out partners and alliances as much as possible in this ever changing world, as we can all be more successful together than we can independently.

If you are not yet a member of WILMAH, please don't hesitate to reach-out at tellmemore@wilmah.org to learn more.  I encourage all of you to be a part of the change with us by joining as an active member!
It's live! The new www.wilmah.org has finally launched! This will be a key source of information for 2020 so make sure you bookmark it. (If you had our old site saved, you may have to delete that one and retype the url so that you go to the new site.)
What do female leaders in animal health really think?
A candid conversation about the state of mentorship and gender diversity in 2020.
Join WILMAH, VMX and Dr. Jessica Petty for a conversation sparked by interviews with female leaders in animal health, who, combined, have 292 years of experience in the industry and who have also mentored over 200 future leaders.

This is an important conversation for women and men and is open to WILMAH members and non-members. We hope you will join us!
January 19, 2019
5:00pm-6:30pm
Hyatt Regency Orlando
Room Florida C
Following the presentation, we will host five industry leaders to speak about their experiences with mentorship, sponsorship, diversity and inclusion during their careers, and to offer advice to those within the animal health sector on how to build diverse work cultures.

Dr. Jessica Petty has more than two decades of experience contributing to the growth of people and business. While her experiences have spanned the for-profit and nonprofit world, her interest in people and contributing to a more just system for all have always been passions. Through her academic research, she has been able to gather in-depth observations about the experiences of others and bring new insights to an ever-changing marketplace.

Thank You To Our Sponsor:
The next generation of Home Delivery is here. At Vetsource® we're focused on providing smart, essential solutions that better fit the lives of veterinarians, their clients and the pets they love.

In 2005, a group of pet-loving pharmacy experts decided to confront the issue of predatory websites peddling prescription pet care products head on. Now, more than a decade later, Vetsource® provides a powerful suite of tools designed to improve compliance, enhance client relationships and increase revenue to thousands of practices across the country.

As the largest and most trusted Home Delivery Provider to veterinarians, we source quality medications, over-the-counter health care products and pet foods directly from the manufacturers and ship them right to clients’ front doors. Our team of licensed pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are here to provide veterinarians with an unparalleled level of expertise. And our double-patented, mobile-optimized ScriptRight® ePrescribing tool allows doctors to write, review and approve prescriptions from any web-enabled device — even out in the field.
