Teresa Jade Jarzynski, Elissa Leibowitz Poma and Pritha Srinivasan were among 27 artists juried into the "HERstory" exhibition at the Girls Who Paint Gallery in Kensington. The exhibit runs September 29-November 12, with an opening reception on Thursday, September 29 from 6-8 pm.

Sarah Clayton Davis won third prize at the Courage in Color national juried show at Gallery Underground in Arlington last month. Her submission, QuiRky Orange, is a series of abstract paintings reimagining the omnipresent QR code with color and a bit of humor.

Jennifer Crouch had three pieces accepted into the “Purple is the Color of Recovery” show sponsored by The Washington County Arts Council and Washington Goes Purple. The shows runs September 8-October 4 in Hagerstown. Pictured here is one of the pieces, What I Remember.

Lily Kak has a solo show, "Celebrating Diversity" at the Parkview Gallery in Glen Echo. Lily’s watercolor paintings depict the color and liveliness of diversity across cultures and races through dance, compassion, girl power, and friendship. The exhibit runs September 9-October 9; gallery hours are 10 am to 4 pm Monday-Saturday.

Elissa Leibowitz Poma's watercolor and ink work Sue Tilley, Lucian Freud's Muse was juried into the exhibit "Body Talk" at the Target Gallery at the Torpedo Factor Art Center in Alexandria, Virginia. The exhibit runs September 17-October 30, with an artists' reception on Friday, October 14.

This coming Saturday, September 10th, Marta Lopez Teigeiro's pyramid titled Hope, Joy & Harvest will be placed in public locations around the Wheaton Triangle for the walk of pyramids. It is a call for unity and celebrates diversity in our community.

Mark McAlister is one of just 15 area artists whose works were accepted for permanent display at the Washington Commander’s NFL stadium, FedEx Field, in Prince George’s County. Mark’s two mixed media pieces, Was/Always and New Nostalgia, will be on exhibit on the Club Level.

Gloria Miotto has a solo show, "Mosaic of Life" at the Goldman Art Gallery at the Jewish Community Center in Rockville. The show is a combination of different styles, colors, and forms that aim to showcase the expression of life, human emotion, nature, and social environments. The show runs September 11-November 6, with a reception on Sunday, October 2nd from 2-4 pm.
