July 2020 Update
GIL HAMM UPDATE
Gil Hamm 2020 Rules - September 8-10, 2020
At least 1 member of each team must attend the Orientation meeting Sept. 7th, at Ruttger's Birchmont Lodge at 6pm.
All registered muskies must be caught and released within designated fishing times.
MI release points apply: 30” minimum, 4 points for 30” with 1 point added to each additional inch. Example: 40” equals 14 points. Catch, photo, release required.
Releases are to be turned in by contacting the host chapter main contact (TBA) or turned in after fishing times at the host resort within the allotted time. Fish registration and forms and photos must be turned in the day the fish was caught.
The team that scores the most accumulated points wins the Hamm and the chapter they represent will host the following year’s Gil Hamm.
***Tournament waters: due to AIS concerns, there are 3 zones to fish. Zone 1 is Lake Bemidji chain up to Lake Marquette. Zone 2 is Big Lake and Lake Plantagenent. Zone 3 is the Cass Lake chain.
***There is NO trailering your boat from 1 lake to another lake during this event. The lake you start fishing on is the lake your boat must remain during your participation in this event.
Fishing times are 6am to 6pm Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday 6am to Noon. All fish must be caught during event hours.
Headquarters will be at Ruttger's Birchmont Lodge: 7598 Bemidji Road NE, Bemidji MN 56601 - 218-444-3463.
All fish must be caught, handled, and released by legal methods according to state fishing laws and regulations. NO LIVE BAIT can be used.
Fish must be witnessed swimming away healthy and unaided upon release.
No fish may be taken to a scale or transported. The event is strictly catch, photo, release.
Boats must be in compliance with all Coast Guard and state laws & regulations.
Event contestants must display appropriate conduct at all times. Inappropriate conduct at boat access or on the water will result in disqualification.
The Event committee and Bemidji/Cass Lake Chapter #46 of MI are not responsible for any lost or stolen items before, during or after day of the event.
Due to Covid-19 there will be an exception to the policy on the requirements for the replica contest.
This year only (2020):
We will be waiving the attendance of outings and landing clean up due to social distancing recommendations. All other rules and policies still apply, see website for rules and policies.
