Earlier this week, I was asked to lead a time of devotions and prayer for a group of pastors. We took time to simply read and meditate on my favorite verse in the Bible:
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).
There are two opposite things pulling on all of us. The latter is the one we like to focus on, after all, we all want to have an abundance of life. Through Jesus Christ, his death, resurrection, and empowering spirit, we can have a life full of peace and joy!
The first part of that verse is something we need to be keenly aware as well. We have an enemy who wants to destroy us. This is a harsh reality we all must face.
So how do we deal with these two opposite realities?
First, we need to be honest about the things in our life that theenemy is threatening. We need to call them out and ask the Lord to intervene on our behalf. If there is a sin to confess, confess it and repent. If there is a step we need to take, then take it and move forward. If there is help that we need, then ask for help. Do not let the enemy rob you of the life that can be yours today!
Finally, thank the Lord for the things in your life that are going right. Rejoice in his blessings to you and trust that He wants to multiplying them in your future. You can have an abundance of life today!
