Dear Friends at CTK,
I have a confession to make, I got really irritated at a friend of mine this week. You might not think that is a big deal but if you had experienced the intense emotions I felt, your opinion might be swayed.
All of us have had times of frustration, irritation, or down right anger towards another person. When I find myself in these types of situations, there is a passage I try to go to for encouragement, guidance, and support. The Apostle Paul wrote:
“Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive” (Colossians 3:12-13).
Bear with one another and forgive each other. These are so easy to say and yet can be so hard to do. However, because Jesus has forgiven us, through the Holy Spirit we have the power to forgive as He forgave – Sacrificially.
Forgiveness always costs somebody something. When a wrong has been committed or a relationship fractured and strained, there is a burden to bear. When Christ forgave us, He paid our debts on the cross. He carried the costly burden.
Is it possible that he might be calling us to be the ones to carry the costly burden of forgiveness in order to heal the world around us? Let’s pray about it and see where our Lord leads us.
Love to all,
Tim Davis.

Editor’s Note:
The relational issue alluded to above was not a sin issue. My feelings were hurt… Okay, it might have also bruised my pride. It is important for us to make wise and honest distinctions between hurt feelings and actual sin issues. All sins are offensive but not every offense is actually a sin.
If you are dealing with an issue where someone has clearly sinned against you personally, I would suggest reading Matthew 18:15-20. If you have followed step one and need help with step two and beyond, we can deal with that together.
