Vol. 1  Issue  IX
September MUD Column
by Claudia Foutz
The MUD Board met at 11:30 on September 110.39, 2018 at South Shore Blvd., Suite 207B.  As a reminder the Board has set its meeting dates and locations and is consistently on the second Tuesday of each month at the same location.  Residents are encouraged to attend the meetings and to learn the role of the district and the business conducted.
As noted in prior articles, the MUD acted on the final processes to adopt the 2018 tax rate of $0.39 per $100 0f the assessed valuation which is unchanged from 2017.  Residents may see a slight increase in the 2018 tax obligation if the tax district increased the assessed value of their home.
The MUD is moving forward to address the issue of erosion control at the Kroger Lake ara.  They accepted a $5,126 proposal from Lynn’s Landscaping in League City to begin erosion control of the Kroger Lake.  Yellow Iris will be planted 4 feet apart in two sample areas over  250 linear feet in each area.  The plants will be evaluated within 6 months and determination will be made whether to continue this approach to erosion control.
Next the board discussed issues with Tucker Lake.  Last month residents were advised through this posting to contact the MUD with issues concerning Tucker Lake.  They did receive one resident’s comments about overgrown vegetation.  It appeared that this vegetation may be on property not owned by the MUD.  A title search will be made to determine ownership of that area.  Residents are encouraged to contact with any safety or maintenance concerns of the lake and they will be addressed at the next board meeting.
The MUD finalized the final payment of the 2022 Term Bond (Series 2008 bond) which was paid on September 5th.
