Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would travel to the Yukon... in winter (!)…, but that’s exactly what I found myself doing last February.  After encouragement from my good friend and fellow photographer, Steve Gorman, we set off on an adventure together to photograph the Northern Lights.  It was an incredible experience I’ll not soon forget!  The Northern Lights were quite active while we were there.  I learned a ton about how to photograph (and survive!) in extreme cold temperatures (averaged -35F at night).  I then traveled solo from Whitehorse to Alaska visiting Haines and Skagway where I saw glaciers, fjords, and bald eagles.  You can see many of my Yukon and Alaska photos in my Landscape Gallery and my Northern Lights photos in my Night Sky Gallery.  My heart longs to return.
A brief example of what I mean by extreme cold temperatures.  I took this on the Haines Highway en route from the Yukon to Alaska.  Brrrr!
Keeping It Local
Lately, I’ve been focusing my lenses locally on Vermont living, including doing event and promotional work for the Upper Valley Trails Alliance, the Alliance for Vermont Communities, and Sweetland Farm.  If you are a local business or non-profit seeking photographs to help your website or marketing, please email me to discuss project ideas.  Please pass this along to anyone you think may be interested.  Thanks!
I am happy to announce that I am now a contributing writer for Improve Photography, a premiere learn photography website.
I publish articles every two weeks on various topics mostly related to landscape photography, including how to shoot waterfalls, photographing the Northern Lights, and tips for night sky photography.  Improve Photography has tons of information for all kinds of photography, so be sure to check it out if you are interested.
I was also just interviewed on the Improve Photography Roundtable Podcast (Episode 255), where I discuss how to photograph the Northern Lights and shoot in cold weather.  I hope you enjoy!  Stay tuned for more.
As many of you know, I was invited to hold a solo exhibit at the Dartmouth Kresge Library from April-July.  It was really great to see my work on a wall!  I received a lot of positive feedback from community members and Dartmouth students alike.

People were invited to submit the title of their favorite image to enter to win a free 11x14 canvas print.  I’m happy to announce that the winner (picked at random) is: Steven Dumont.  Thank you for all of your votes and congratulations to Steven!  He won the print above taken in the Yukon.
I recently signed a contract with Art Licensing International, a Vermont-based art licensing agency.  Here is a link to my artist's profile
If you are interested in licensing any of my photos, please contact Art Licensing International for details.

Several of my images were promoted over 20 times on feature accounts on Instagram, such as Real Simple, Vermont Tourism, Vermont Photography, and Natural Vermont. These features generated more than 27,000 likes collectively!  It is very exciting to get my work "out there" for so many people to enjoy and to get feedback.

If you don't yet follow me on social media, Instagram is the best way to stay current on my latest work.
This photo was chosen to be featured in the 2017-2018 Save the River Calendar.  All proceeds will go towards supporting their river protection programs for the St. Lawrence River.
Looking Ahead
I have a lot of exciting things planned for 2018, including additional local exhibits, workshops, photo projects, travel and more!  Stay tuned for updates.  Please share this newsletter with anyone you think would be interested!
I so appreciate your continued support and interest in my work.   Please follow me on Instagram and Facebook to see my latest images and adventures.  I plan to send out a handful newsletters this year with updates and announcements.  You can unsubscribe at any time by hitting the link below.  Remember to add me to your address book to prevent future messages from heading to your spam folder.
May you all have a safe, happy and healthy holiday season!  Consider adding "spend more time outdoors" to your New Year's resolutions -- you won't regret it!
