Check Your Mailbox for Important Medicare News

Keep your eyes peeled for a letter from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).  Each summer, CMS sends millions of letters to folks who may be eligible for cost-saving programs on your Medicare expenses.  You could save thousands of dollars through programs like Extra Help and the Medicare Savings Program.
If you received one of these letters-- or you'd like to find out if you're eligible, call the Elder Helpline at 866-413-5337 and ask for an appointment with a SHINE Counselor
SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) helps Medicare beneficiaries understand their benefits, apply for cost-saving programs, and can even help you report Medicare fraud and abuse.

You are invited to attend a public meeting at the Area Agency on Aging for SWFL headquarters on August 6 at 10:00 a.m. The AAASWFL headquarters is located at 15201 N. Cleveland Ave, Ste. 1100 in North Fort Myers.

We hope to get your input on health and wellness workshops that we plan to offer using Older Americans Act Title III-D funding.

These workshops include:
  • A Matter of Balance
  • Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program
  • Powerful Tools for Caregivers
  • Stay Active and Independent for Life
  • Tai Chi for Arthritis (for Falls Prevention)
  • Tai Chi: Moving for Better Balance
  • Walk With Ease
Any person requiring special accommodations to participate in this hearing is asked to advise AAASWFL at least five days before the hearing by calling 239-652-6900.

Aging Safely in Our Own Homes

Isn't that what we all want?

We all want to live at home for as long as possible. The Area Agency on Aging for SWFL wants to help you do that. We connect people to resources and assistance for living safely with independence and dignity.
As our region’s designated Aging and Disability Resource Center, AAASWFL is the only agency that can register you for government-funded aging programs for home-delivered meals, housekeeping, personal care, and other in-home services.
These services are prioritized based on level of need and available funding.
