Dear <<First Name>> <<Last Name>>,
Greetings from IDWC President, Gini Ballou. It’s been a tough cycle, everyone working so hard and only seeing small gains here at home. A whole slate of fantastic candidates worked tirelessly and yet were not able to garner enough votes. Don’t be disheartened! Look at the incredible strides we did achieve—Muffy Davis has replaced Rep. Steve Miller in D26 and Steve Berch has finally prevailed in D15!
Also, even the candidates that didn’t make it made a difference, all across the state. Voter turnout was greater, engagement in issues is way up and our path to greater achievement is clear. Keep talking about the things that matter—fair elections, facts, and a brighter future. We can leave anger and fear behind and continue to work towards the tomorrow we want to give our children and grandchildren.
Many communities have either hosted or in the process of planning post-election meetings so that we can regroup and strategize for the future. This weekend 11/17 from 3-5pm in Boise will be the Forever Forward meeting with United Vison for Idaho, with plans to create training tracks that we can utilize for future candidates’ campaigns. I will also be attending the People’s Action training in Las Vegas at the end of the month and look forward to sharing their plans and guides for getting more progress here in Idaho.
Around the country, democratic leaders and especially women leaders, are making headlines. The mock-up magazine cover above, from NFDW President, Susanna French, shows some of the excitement that is going on.
SAVE THE DATE—January 18, 2019—WOMEN IN BLUE, DAY AT THE CAPITAL! Please plan to join us and create a Sea of Blue! After being introduced on both the House and Senate Floors, we will be meeting after lunch at the AFL-CIO Offices and be making posters for the Women’s March, held Saturday, January 19! Hope you can join us!
Some of you may not be aware but there is still one race left to be decided. Mike Espy, a Democrat in Mississippi, is running for the U.S. Senate and has a good chance to be elected. He needs our help in getting voters to the polls on November 26th. Please help him out if you can.
