Hello GC family

Welcome back to another exciting week of football as we take on Kapunda at the dog track. We would like to extend a warm welcome to all past players who will be attending this week's games as we celebrate all premierships ending in a 3 with a function upstairs in Nixon's.

2003 U17's – 20 years
1983 A Grade – 40 years
1983 U14’s – 40 years
1973 U17’s – 50 years
1963 U16’s – 60 years
1953 A Grade – 70 years

Over the past few weeks, our senior men's team has been playing a great brand of footy under the guidance of our new senior coach Shane Dawe. Despite not securing the two points in the first two games, it has been exciting to see many of our recent juniors playing in the A grade. In round 2, the team showed some great fight and grit, coming from four goals down to hit the front with only 10 minutes to play against Tanunda. Unfortunately, we couldn't hold onto the lead, but the performance showed the potential of the playing group.

Our 13's, 15's, and 17's teams have also started the year off well, with 13's and 17's securing a win. We have had groups of 20 players stepping up an age group this year, which will provide plenty of learning and development opportunities for the players.

On the back oval, our 9's and 11's teams have had another good start. Although we don't count score in these grades, all teams belting out the club song after each grade so far this year. We are proud to have three under 9 teams again this year, which is the most in the BLG. Having so many numbers in our junior programme is a  positive indication that our junior program is and has been heading in the right direction.

Our women's footy program is also under way, with the exciting news that we have a new under 13's team this year. The team secured their first win last week, and we are looking forward to seeing them progress throughout the year. Numbers in this grade are still low, so we would appreciate it if you could let us know if you know anyone who might be interested in playing. Our seniors women's team is also flying, securing two wins, including a 100 to 0 point win. The first game was played under lights after the A grade, and it was great to see them run around with the majority of our supporters and playing groups staying around to watch.

Overall, it has been a positive start to the year for our club, with many exciting developments across all age groups. We look forward to seeing you at the dog track.
