We are now solidly into the period of virtual meetings and becoming used to the frequent phrases: ‘You’re on mute.’ ‘We can’t hear you.’  ‘You are upside down.’  ‘Can you please mute your microphones if you’re not speaking?’. Although I joke about these common online rituals, these meetings do present opportunities to catch up with our teams and our clients in safe settings during these challenging times.

Faces of Avisure

Phil Shaw—Founder and Managing Director

A toss of the coin literally decided the fate of Phil Shaw’s fledgling wildlife hazard management career. After Shaw completed a biological science degree at university, he was convinced there was a better way to manage pests such as termites.

Introducing Avicast

Avisure's new podcast

Avisure has joined the podcast phenomenon with the release of its new interview series, Avicast. The host of Avicast is Kylie Patrick, principal consultant at Avisure, who says she has been a ‘big consumer of podcasts for a long time’. ‘You can be educated, or entertained,’ and listen to them in your own time, not just when a program is being broadcast, Patrick says. Above all, the fact you can listen to them on the go—commuting, travelling or working out—having that mobility, is a great plus.

Meet Jessica Radford

Jessica Radford is Avisure’s newest employee, undertaking a Wildlife Biologist role on sites in Victoria.

How can Avisure help you?

Avisure contracted by Melbourne Airport

Avisure is delighted to announce that Melbourne Airport (Australia Pacific Airports Melbourne [APAM]) have contracted us to help implement the airport’s wildlife hazard management program. Building on the excellent work begun by Dr Will Steele, Avisure is looking forward to working collaboratively and strategically with APAM to further improve the program.
Ted Shaw, the father of Avisure’s Managing Director Phil Shaw, was a pilot in the RAAF during the Second World War.  On the occasion of RAAF’s 100th Anniversary, Avisure would like to publish Ted’s story.

Learning to Fly and Service

By Ted Shaw, Edited by Phil Shaw

The older I get the more appalled I am at how ignorant I was of things mechanical and aeronautical when I learnt to fly with the RAAF during the Second World War.
