At Teddy Bear Day Care and Preschool, we recognize and respect that each child is different and unique.
Exploration and hands-on learning experiences are the best tools a child can gain from a safe and experienced center like us!

Here, at Teddy Bear Day Care and Preschool, children are stretched and intellectually stimulated to develop and defend an idea and to articulate feelings. But what is the purpose of the best academic education if it fails to prepare children for the "real world"? Through the process of Plan-Do-Review and the Adult/Child Interactions of the HighScope Educational Approach, the children develop life skills which are training wheels for every chapter in life, such as: - Integrity - Effort - Curiosity - Perseverance - Common sense - Caring - Responsibility - Cooperation - Courage - Friendship All of this happens through play. Play is children's work. Therefore, it is the foundation for academic learning. There are many centers, schools, and programs that claim "Children First". Here at Teddy Bear Day Care and Preschool, we know and believe the phrase and work hard so that it is reality!

Developing Fine-Motor Skills with "Foil Flakes" |

|
Why is "play" so vital for children? It improves their mobility of thought, problem-solving skills, and develops their attention span, gross motor skills, and hand-eye coordination. Have your child do the following steps that they can manage:
Provide your child with strips of foil, sequins, and blue, purple, or black construction paper.
|
Invite your child to choose a sheet of construction paper. Next, encourage them to glue strips of foil to the paper so they resemble snowflakes. To help your child understand, you may say - "what if you glue one strip up and down, then make an "X" with two more strips?" Sequins may be added to give extra sparkle to the snowflakes. Seasonal "Cooking" Corner: Snowflake Sandwich |
Use a snowflake cookie cutter to cut shapes from 2 slices of bread. Soften cream cheese (you may want to add honey, crushed pineapple, or strawberry preserves to taste). Spread filling on the bottom snowflake/slice of bread, then add the top "snowflake". Spread a a very thin layer of cream cheese on top and sprinkle with sugar crystals for a really festive and fun sandwich.
Sprinkles, of course, are optional!
