May 2020 Newsletter

I hope this newsletter finds you well, both physically and mentally. These are unprecedented times and we are all feeling the effects one way or another.

I don't know about you, but thanks to the pandemic I am working three times as hard in my business for one-third of the income. To keep from feeling overwhelmed, I refer back to a book that is easily one of the best I've read in the past year. The book is William B. Irvine's A Guide to the Good Life: The Ancient Art of Stoic Joy (Oxford University Press, 2008).

In this 2-minute video, I talk about using the lessons of the Stoics to focus on the things that I can change—and not obsessing about things over which I have no influence. Adopting a Stoic philosophy has made me feel a lot less stressed, and better prepared to run a business that comes back stronger than ever.
What things under your control are you focusing on during this time?
