As we begin to prep for AEP, it is important to know the details of the carriers that will be marketing MAPD plans across the State. This year will prove to be a competitive environment, and as an agent, your understanding of what each carrier offers will be imperative to your success and your client’s well-being. In response, we have organized a meeting to bring all of the carriers to you!

We received a lot of positive feedback from attendees of the Kellogg Sales Training Institute (KSTI).
Agents are gaining more clients and better insuring them by using what they have learned. September registration for KSTI is open for agents contracted with our carriers; please check the Kellogg site for details. Arrive on September 10th; meetings begin on 9/11 at 9 am and go through Friday 9/13 at 1 pm. This is amazing and generous training provided for just $100 and your transportation to Salt Lake City.

Now is the time to contact your MAPD clients. There is a lot more competition in this market this year, so make sure your clients know that you are their agent and can offer a fair and unbiased review of their coverage. You have received, via email, an example of letters that you can mail to your clients to prepare them for this AEP. Please feel free to make any changes you would like. UHC has offered to send the letters for our Agency. Please update the letter and provide a spreadsheet of your client's names and addresses. You can mail both of these to Jake Dinan at firstname.lastname@example.org. I would encourage you to incorporate your photograph into the letter. If you do not have a professional headshot, Tamara Kunz has offered to provide this service to you. You can make arrangements with her by sending an email to email@example.com. Please have all of this to UHC by Friday, August 16th so the letters can be mailed by the end of August.
Since The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) of 2015 was passed, we have been anticipating 2020. What are you going to do when your clients call you about “Their Plan F going away?” Most agents will roll their concerned clients to a Plan G, which is a natural change. However, with the strength of and improvement made to UHC’s PPO plan, you now have an opportunity to educate your clients on new options. Take a look at UHC’s new PPO plan that is rolling out this AEP. We will discuss this strategy during the Pre AEP Carrier Meeting, which will be held on August 21st.
