WORDS FROM THE GRAPEVINE

If you are sort of a person that keeps up with the news, then you already know that many troublesome issues face this world. I have lived long enough to see that Fear and Panic drives agenda in this world. From Vietnam, to the Russian scare, nuclear missiles, global warming, and now to a global pandemic. There are many things we can worry about today, but we can also choose to live and think differently. This world is a mess, it always has been and always will be. Sin is a mess. People who might think we live in the worst time ever, probably don’t understand how bad the Black Plague was that wiped out a third of the people in Europe. How bad was Sodom and Gomorrah? Well, Abraham couldn’t find 10 righteous people and two cities were incinerated. What’s my point? We should not be surprised by condition of this world. We Christians have a work to do, and that work is to help people find hope in this dark world.

Why are the nations so angry?
Why do they waste their time with futile plans?
The kings of the earth prepare for battle;
the rulers plot together
against the LORD
and against his anointed one.
Let us break their chains,” they cry,
“and free ourselves from slavery to God.”
-Psalms 2:1-3

The real purpose of all this fear is to push people farther away from God. There are only two true purposes in this world. We as a people of God have a unique job to do. Something so special that God has entrusted it to His people. God’s church is unique and important. The world falls apart when the church fails to preach the Gospel of Jesus. There is only one “fix” for our situation, and that solution is Jesus. We can’t fix this world, but we can pray that people will be drawn to Jesus and ultimately be saved from this world. This world will do what it has always done, and we the church need to do what we need to do, so people can be saved, and once we have reached out to all those who need to know, we can finally go home. Keep the faith my brothers and sisters, seek God’s voice, and let us humbly follow our Lord.

Connected to the Vine.

Thank you to all those who helped (and continue to help) by means of labor, contributions, prayers, gifts and donations in helping to get me set up in a better living situation. In the middle of one of the worst years in our lives, this church family has shown God's love for myself and my dog, Kodi, who passed away October 27. Thank you so much for your loving care of us. When we get to God's kingdom, He will richly reward you for your kindness. Merry Christmas to all of my brothers and sisters in the Hillsboro SDA church. God bless you!
-With love, Rhia R. Drouillard
