EuroPACE Project: An integrated building improvement platform for Europe.

Building renovation is about improving people's lives.

We spend 90% of our time indoors, thus buildings impact our health, well-being and work productivity Today, 1 in 6 Europeans lives in unhealthy homes. Those effected by energy poverty are 3 times as likely to live in damp and unhealthy buildings which can result in a 40% higher chance of developing asthma.* This is an opportunity to meet the EU goals and improve comfort and health of European citizens. EuroPACE is part of the solution. We are designing an integrated renovation platform that is easy, reliable and affordable.

Building Momentum. Creating a Movement. Working with Partners and Allies.

June has been a busy and productive month for EuroPACE. We are making progress on market research and have assessed legal and fiscal readiness of nearly 20 European countries. At the same time, the city of Olot is working on designing a residential pilot that is well in line with Spanish citizen's real concerns. We had an opportunity to present EuroPACE at the European Sustainable Energy Week in Brussels, at the C4E Forum in Serock, Poland and a national roundtable in Trodheim, Norway. Scroll down for more insights.

Central and Eastern European Market

EuroPACE team joined the C4E Forum held in Serock, Poland to learn more about the market and present the EuroPACE model.
In June, we attended the C4E Forum in Serock, Poland. The forum is a unique event focused on the energy transition in the Central and Eastern European region. Overall, the region presents a significant opportunity for home and commercial building renovation, but not without challenges. Below are our key takeaways from the event:
  • Multifamily properties have a strong need for renovation and holistic approach that would combine affordable financing with effective project development/citizen outreach methods is needed.
  • Many buildings require improvements that go beyond energy efficiency, including safety and structural renovations. A neighbourhood focus is essential and improved buildings will bring economic and social benefits.
  • EU funding in the region tends to come in in cycles, once the funding cycle ends, there is a gap and the market is interrupted. Market continuity that can be addressed with private financing schemes.
  • Cities and regional energy authorities are keen to learn about new solutions and are looking for private financing schemes to complement, in some instances decreasing subsidies and grants.
  • There are a number non-financial barriers to EE in the region as well. These include: the need for technical assistance for homeowners – making EE simpler, strategies for addressing energy poverty in multifamily buildings, improved coordination between grants, subsidies and private financing solutions.
This is an opportunity for EuroPACE to be part of the solution in Central and Eastern Europe. We are looking for local partners in the region. Please reach out to us if you are interested to learn more about the program and it can work in CEE region.

European Sustainable Energy Week 2018

EuroPACE team participated in #EUSEW18. For more coverage of the event please visit our Twitter: @EuroPACEprogram
We'd like to thank the organizers for prominently featuring EuroPACE alongside the World Bank and EEEF. Throughout the event, it was apparent that there is more focus on demand generation from investors, EE program operators and cities.
It is clearer than ever - financing for clean energy transition is not an issue. The challenge is having a reliable pipeline of standardized EE projects. The private sector can play a key role in delivering solutions well in line with the EU goals,  market needs and complimentary to existing subsidies and grant schemes.
