Accelerating EuroPACE in Spain and Europe
Exploring Leader Cities in Belgium and the Netherlands; EuroPACE Summit Registration is still open; Figures on healthy homes.
In the past month, we've been progressing with EuroPACE pilot development and in parallel exploring new markets for EuroPACE expansion. Namely, Belgium and the Netherlands. Both markets show potential and there are local stakeholders - cities, regions and private companies - willing to further investigate the application of our model of home-based financing. Read more below.

The EuroPACE Summit is only a month away. Register today to not miss an opportunity to hear from a number of finance and home renovation experts from the European Investment Bank, KfW, Hermes Investment Management, the European Commission, Renovate Europe, Super Homes (Ireland), Better Home (Denmark) and more. "At a time when the real question is how do we accelerate energy renovation of buildings in the EU, it is great to see a project like EuroPACE preparing the ground for an easier, more attractive means of financing that holds the potential to motivate building owners to get on with the job!"
Adrian Joyce, Campaign Director, Renovate Europe.

How Homes Impact our Health: Key Figures

We spend 90% of our time indoors. It is not a surprise that homes impact our health, well-being and productivity. In fact, 15% of the existing buildings in northern Europe, suffer from dampness and 5% from mold. Noise affects 22% of European homes, mostly in urban areas. Plus the majority of people are unaware that indoor air can be polluted.
Overall, “inadequate” housing costs EU nearly €200 billion a year, through direct costs like healthcare and indirect costs like lost productivity. It's time to act and ensure that all Europeans live in healthy and comfortable homes! We are making steps in that direction with EuroPACE.

Looking for Leader Cities and Regions

Focus on Belgium: We've met with the City of Leuven and the Walloon region of Belgium to discuss EuroPACE adaptation to Belgium. Home renovation is a clear priority for both administrations. We look forward to working on this challenge together.
Focus on the Netherlands: At the moment we are in discussion with De Woonpas, a home renovation programme launching in two communities in Holland - Bergen and Dafsen. Our Dutch colleagues are demonstrating that "home-based" financing is a flexible and adaptable concept.
EuroPACE Can be Enabled with Smart Policy:
The challenge of EuroPACE implementation lies in attaching the financing to a property – the so-called “home-based financing.” To enable EuroPACE, the public administration must recognise that sustainable and energy-efficient home renovation is in the public benefit and put in place administrative collection and security mechanisms for loan repayment. This feature is critical to enable low-risk, long-term financing and make it attractive to private investors.

EuroPACE enabling policies can be adopted at national level making of the home-based/EuroPACE mechanism a powerful new instrument for energy transition resulting in economic, environmental and social benefits for all Europeans.
