Accelerating EuroPACE in Spain and Europe
EuroPACE Talk with Catriona Brady from the World Green Building Council, updates from Olot and  EuroPACE Summit in June.
The upcoming Easter break is a time to relax, connect with family and maybe do some spring cleaning. This spring, at the EuroPACE project, we have many exciting developments to share, including:
  • We are delighted to announce that the EuroPACE Summit "Investing 4 Cities: Opportunities and Solutions to finance home renovation in Europe" will  take place in Brussels on June 19th. Learn more and register.
  • In Olot, we are making progress with pilot programme design. In fact, one of the crucial decisions we've made in the past month was to establish a non-profit programme administrator entity to manage the EuroPACE Olot programme. Read more about it below.
  • Lastly, this month's EuroPACE Talk is focused on healthy homes. "Green" and "healthy" should go hand in hand to reach policy goals and improve peoples' lives.

EuroPACE Talk: “Healthier Homes, Healthier Planet”

In this talk we are approaching home renovation from a people-centric point of view by focusing on health and wellbeing. Catriona Brady, Head of the Better Places for People, a global project at the World Green Building Council, is sharing  the insights from the recently released "Guide to healthier homes and a healthier planet" and more.
The 6th EuroPACE Talk is focused on healthy and comfortable homes.
The recently released “Guide to healthier homes and a healthier planet” report outlines the impact of indoor parameters like light, noise, thermal comfort, etc. What are some of the key findings and how they can be used to improve home environment?

Within each of these headlines we tried to keep the messaging simple and effective. With air quality, we talked about both indoor and outdoor air quality – covering messages around outdoor pollution getting into homes, the contribution of fuels burnt in housing to generate pollution, and indoor pollutants caused by toxic materials or damp and mould build-up. With thermal and acoustic comfort we presented a range of energy efficient strategies...Continue reading.
WorldGBC has been consistently using health messages to appeal to wider audiences. Can you tell me more about the strategies you are employing and why?

We believe that health is one of the core components of sustainability – and therefore is an integral feature of a sustainable, or green, building or city. Health is therefore an outcome that we aspire to ‘build into’ our urban environments, but we also recognise the power of human-centric messaging as an engagement tool...Continue reading.

Focus on the pilot in Olot

We are establishing a non-profit program administrator entity to operate a programme in Olot. This entity will be responsible for daily operations of the programme, customer outreach and advice, front office, contractor training, lead generation and more. Having analyzed possible legal forms, we came to the conclusion that a non-profit offers vast benefits, including:
  • As a separate entity, its activities will not affect the public budget of Olot
  • The designed structure will have a clear governance structure
  • Non-profit will offer tax benefits and create a positive social perspective
  • It is eligible to receive subsidies and donations.
  • Lastly, it can serve as a social platform to raise awareness, tackle energy poverty, and support vulnerable groups in the region.

  • The commercial PACE is gaining traction, the market has surpassed $800M in funded projects.
Our team will continue monitoring the progress in the US market, follow the recent developments on both policy and market fronts and making relevant connections to capture lessons learned.
