Thank you for following the journey of the EuroPACE project; we are glad to share our progress in implementing this innovative financing tool in Spain and expanding it to Europe. The highlights of this newsletter are:
- We are pleased to release the EuroPACE Readiness Assessment, a legal and fiscal analysis of the EU 28. Based on this assessment, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, and Spain were selected for the secondary analysis focusing on market potential.
- This month's EuroPACE Talk focuses on climate and energy policy and how it can help accelerate the home renovation market. Patty Fong from the European Climate Foundation, shared her perspectives and organization's publications, like a market survey conducted in 5 very different EU countries to better understand the public perceptions around home energy renovation.
- Lastly, there are a number of upcoming events that may present an opportunity to learn more about EuroPACE and meet in person.

EuroPACE Readiness Assessment: Legal and Fiscal Analysis of the EU-28
|
|
This document represents the first phase of the market readiness assessment focusing on the legal and fiscal analysis. Its aim is to develop a methodology to assess the feasibility of EuroPACE implementation from a legal and fiscal standpoint and than analyse the Eu 28 from this point of view. The EuroPACE Readiness map (see below) was developed based on the assessment of the EU 28. Read full report.

Let's talk about policies that can help accelerate home renovation. Today we are speaking to Patty Fong, who is the Buildings Initiative Director at the European Climate Foundation. Patty shares her perspective about mandatory renovation requirements and about the recent survey conducted to uncover the underlying motivations and barriers for energy efficient renovations.

Given the urgency to reach climate and energy goals set by the Paris Agreement and given the current low rate of building renovation, how do we get there?
ECF recently commissioned a market survey in 5 very different EU countries to better understand the public perceptions around home energy renovation. Through a series of focus groups and survey of 6,000 people representing a range of demographics, the study found that thermal comfort, monetary saving and a healthy indoor environment are the main motivations to carry out energy efficient renovations across all countries... continue reading.

Let’s talk about the mandatory renovation requirements. Can mandates help to jump start the market?
Mandatory building codes are needed to accelerate the rate of renovation. They exist for new construction already—in less than two years, all new buildings in the EU must meet nearly zero energy requirements. A similar requirement should be phased in over time for existing buildings and should be integrated with decent and affordable housing requirements. ...continue reading.

EuroPACE team is composed of 8 organizations from 4 countries. Each partner has unique expertise and experience. In the next few months we will be featuring team members from all the partners.

Dr. Styczynska is a senior expert in labour market, social policy and employment. She is the administrative coordinator of the EuroPACE project and oversees the legal, fiscal and market research of the EU-28. She obtained her PhD in Economic Science on Informal Employment from the University of Turin and holds an MA in Economics from the University of Warsaw and an MA in Economics from CORIPE Piemonte in Turin. Ariadna Villegas is Director of DinamiG, the Local Economic Development Agency of la Garrotxa, where the EuroPACE Olot pilot takes place. Ariadna’s career has led her to specialise in designing and implementing Local Economic Development policies with a special focus on social innovation and to develop strong skills in projects and team management and strategic thinking. Kristina is the Head of Communications and Marketing at GNE Finance. Kristina is leading the communications efforts for the EuroPACE project and develops a customer outreach strategy for the Olot pilot.
