Join the Ride for Renewables!

The Clean Power Coalition is excited to announce our next event, the 2018 Ride for Renewables, on Saturday, August 11th! The event, which is co-hosted by the Sierra Club, is a group bike ride designed to highlight the dirty nature of coal and the importance of switching to clean energy. The ride will begin at 3 PM and last about an hour and a half, with a total length of around 6 miles round trip. Kids are welcome to join for this event!
Starting at the 7 Mile Road bike path entrance in Caledonia (just East of the intersection of 7 Mile Road and Hwy 32), we'll bike together around the Oak Creek power plant, hearing from impacted residents along the way. After the ride, there will be pizza at the Eco-Justice Center for anyone who would like to stick around for Bonk in the Barn, a poetry and musical performance, which begins at 6 PM. Interested in participating in the bike ride? Widely published Op-Ed calls out We Energies

Carl Lindner, a volunteer with CPC, published an Op-Ed in four publications across the state calling on We Energies to get serious about its coal problem and start transitioning to renewable energy. Read the article here.

Air monitors are coming!

Greening Greater Racine, one of the convening member organizations within the coalition, has agreed to accept the funds raised through Go Fund Me and purchase the air monitors. They should arrive mid-August. Interested in an air monitor? Apply here. Final location decisions will be made by the Data Committee.
