in the mirror of each soul,
the whole community finds its reflection,
and when, in the whole community,
the virtue of each one is living."

The Social Initiative Forum held 2 Forums in 2019 on Ethical Individualism & Self-Development as powerful first steps toward Social Transformation.

75 youth volunteers from Freunde Freiwiligendienste attended “SIF Ethical Individualism 2019” on the 18th to the 20th of October, 2019 at the Goetheanum.

In partnership with Georg Wiedemer & Freunde Ehemaligenarbeit, the 3-day Forum provided a space for the Freunde alumni to process what they experienced during their voluntary year abroad. They also discussed how to address today’s social challenges through initiative & ethical engagement.

Another Forum was held last December 12-15, where 250 people from all over the world gathered at Heliopolis University for  “SIF Egypt 2019”. In collaboration with SEKEM led by Helmy Abouleish & project manager Nana Woo, the 4-day Forum became a multicultural & intergenerational exchange on the theme “Unfolding Individual Potential for the Future”.

On the project’s relevance in our time, the Social Initiative Forum project leader Joan Sleigh shares, “the Forums create spaces where we can all be contributors in envisaging & co-creating new ways of living together, celebrating each other’s differences, & growing through one another”.

Reflections  SIF Egypt 2019: Unfolding Individual Potential for the Future
“How do we unfold our individual potential for the future? What does the future need? How can we empower people to take themselves on?… (Through) self-directed learning & learning from life, which is probably the biggest & most important tool for learning nowadays – (we can) step into life in all its challenges.” – Joan Sleigh, SIF Project Leader & General Anthroposophical Society Board Member
