December 5th Concert

This Holiday Concert, the BMS Bands again will be partnering with the BMS Student Council and (new this year) the BMS Visual Arts Program to help curb the pains of childhood hunger in West Michigan by partaking in the BMS Kids Food Basket December Outreach.

Currently, Kids Food Basket supplies food DAILY to over 8,000 West Michigan children, serving 47 schools with an additional 30 schools on a wait-list. The impact of this local, grassroots organization is felt and needed weekly.

It is asked that each family, as your optional “admission” to the BMS Winter Concerts, donate at least one item off of the Wish List below. We will have two collection stations at HFC outside of our auditorium. While it will not be tracked for the homeroom competition to be announced this month, it will go towards our total impact against local childhood hunger. Your donation will have an IMMEDIATE impact on a child in West Michigan as most items once donated are bagged and sent out within 36 hours.

Food items to be donated can
consist of the following

Dried Fruit or Raisins
Pretzels
Cheese Crackers (Goldfish/Cheeze-its)
Toasted Oat Cereal (Cheerios)
(Off-Brands for all choices are acceptable!)

With an estimated 240 families and approximately 1,200 audience members to attend this concert, we have the ability to change lives in our community! We encourage you to consider giving to this cause!
High School Band News

The high school band concert is on December 18, 2019.

Due to the size of our band program, the band does not fit on stage all at one time.  As a result, the students have been placed in one of two bands.  There will be two concerts that evening.  Both concerts will be exactly the same.  The students (except  1st tri jazz band) only play in one concert.  The students only attend one concert (except 1st tri jazz band).

The first concert begins at 7:00 pm.
The second concert begins at 8:15 pm.

If you would like to know what concert your student performs in, please ask your student.  This information has been communicated in class many times over the last several weeks.

The 1st tri  jazz band plays at both concerts.

Can you please help!

We have some positions that need filling and are hoping someone will step forward to help out.

Co-Chair for Pie Sale
Middle or High School Parent

Tracey Hartman volunteered to help run the pie sale this year, but we are looking for a couple more people to help her.  While a majority of the work is already completed, we do need a couple people to help Tracey help manage the Pie Set-Up (April 24th) and Pie Making & Clean Up (April 25th).  Please note:  If you are a co-chair, you will NOT be able to work on the pie making line as you are there to help in case there is any problems.  Last year it ran so smooth that all the pie mom's had to do was bring the completed pies over to the pie pick-up tables.   If you would like to help support the bands, this is a fun and easy fundraiser to work.

Co-Chair for Uniform Committee
8th Grade or High School Parent

Stephanie Smith volunteered to lead the Uniform committee, but due to her time schedule, she would really appreciate it if we could find a least one if not two more parents to join her next year.  If you would like to help the Marching Band continue to look sharp when taking the field for competitions and football games, please consider this position!  (8th grade parents... if your student is interested in marching band next year, this would be a great way to help get involved with the marching band as well as a great way to get to learn all the marching band students. :)

If you are interested in any of these positions, please email Mike Meengs at mmeengs@yahoo.com

Family Fare and D&W

Do you ever stop and do a little grocery shopping at Family Fare or D&W?  (Even if it's just for a loaf of bread or gallon of milk)  If so, Hudsonville Bands is collecting their receipts for our Direct your Dollars fundraiser.  Once Hudsonvile Bands as a whole raises $150,000 in receipts, SpartanNash will donate $1000 to Hudsonville Bands!  So far we are on track of being able to hit our goal this school year, which would be amazing as we will of hit our goal every year since starting a couple years ago.

Don't forget:  When you see your family next week for Thanksgiving, please let them know that the band is collecting Family Fare and D&W receipts. (Actually any SpartanNash stores listed here)  The more families we have saving and turning their receipts in, the faster we can hit our goal and can start towards our next one!

We will have a Direct Your Dollar box at the Band Booster table at all of our concert this year!  Which school do you think will bring in the most receipts?  Riley, Baldwin or the High School?  If you forget to bring them in, don't worry as there is always a box in your students band room that they can put them in.
