Winter Programs

Just a reminder, if your student was thinking in participating in one of our winter programs, our clinic dates for this week are as follows...

Drumline (7th-12th) is Monday from 6:00-8:00 pm.  This week it will be up in the High School Cafeteria!

Winter Guard (6th-12th grade) is Tuesday & Friday @ Riley Street Middle School from 6:00-9:00 pm.  Tuesday, please meet in the band room at 6 pm to stretch, then have the gym from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
Little Caesars Pizza Pick-Up
This Wednesday is our pick-up for the Little Caesars fundraiser!  It will still be from 3:00-6:00 at the Freshman Campus, but it will no longer be in the band room due to Unity Christian having the band room & auditorium reserved for their performance this weekend.

NEW LOCATION:  The new pick-up location will be in what they call the Scene Shop which is located near the band room (other side of that wing).  I will attach some maps below, but we will also be using our bright pink Pie Pick-up signs with arrows to show you where to go when you arrive at the freshman campus Wednesday. (I hope you don't mind they say pie, I really didn't feel like putting the time and money into making new ones)  The scene shop does have their own door to the outside, please use that door as we are not allowed into the building.  Thank you!

PICK-UP TIME: The pick-up time will still be from 3:00-6:00 pm.  It is VERY IMPORTANT that you pick them up during that time frame as we do not have room to store any left over pizza kits.  If you are unable to make it during that time, please find someone else that will be able to pick them up for you.  Any left over pizza kits will be donated to a local food bank.

HELP NEEDED:  We are still in need of 1 more adult and 5 students to help at our pizza pick up this year.  If you can help from 2:45 - 6:00 pm.  Please sign up via charms or email Joy @ and she will be happy to put it in charms for you.  If you (or someone you know) is in National Honors Society, Joy will be happy to sign your NHS hours for you if you volunteer.

Direct Your Dollar Update
New Total: $79,311

Thank you to everyone who turned in their Direct Your Dollar receipts!  I think this was one of our best months yet as we brought in $21,271 this month alone!   Please keep collecting and turning them in and we will hit our goal in no time!

In case you keep forgetting to have your student bring them to band, at all our concerts we will have one of our Direct Your Dollar boxes at the Band Booster table. Please feel free to come and drop them off.

Once again, thank you for all your support!

5:15 pm dinner
6:00 pm Call Time

December 5th Concert:   This Holiday Concert, the BMS Bands again will be partnering with the BMS Student Council and (new this year) the BMS Visual Arts Program to help curb the pains of childhood hunger in West Michigan by partaking in the BMS Kids Food Basket December Outreach.

Currently, Kids Food Basket supplies food DAILY to over 8,000 West Michigan children, serving 47 schools with an additional 30 schools on a wait-list. The impact of this local, grassroots organization is felt and needed weekly.

It is asked that each family, as your optional “admission” to the BMS Winter Concerts, donate at least one item off of the Wish List below. We will have two collection stations at HFC outside of our auditorium. While it will not be tracked for the homeroom competition to be announced this month, it will go towards our total impact against local childhood hunger. Your donation will have an IMMEDIATE impact on a child in West Michigan as most items once donated are bagged and sent out within 36 hours.
Food items to be donated can
consist of the following
Dried Fruit or Raisins
Cheese Crackers (Goldfish/Cheeze-its)
Toasted Oat Cereal (Cheerios)
(Off-Brands for all choices are acceptable!)

With an estimated 240 families and approximately 1,200 audience members to attend this concert, we have the ability to change lives in our community! We encourage you to consider giving to this cause!

Hudsonville Holiday Parade
On the Saturday before Thanksgiving each year, you can see a lively holiday parade traveling from Highland Drive, along 32nd Ave., to Central Blvd. The parade ends at Terra Square where there is a community party complete with Santa, games, and crafts for the kids, hot chocolate, coffee & cookies.

The Parade begins at 10 am while the art & craft sale, located in the high school, will be open from 9am-2pm.

If you go to the Arts & Craft sale, just remember to come out during the parade so you can watch the Hudsonville Marching Band play their Christmas music and march in their NEW stadium jackets!

We hope to see you there!
Help Needed

We have some positions that need filling and are hoping that you can help.

Co-Chair for Pie Sale:  Tracey Hartman volunteered to help run the pie sale this year, but we are looking for a couple more people to help her.  While a majority of the work is already completed, we do need a couple people to help Tracey help manage the Pie Set-Up (April 24th) and Pie Making & Clean Up (April 25th).  Please note:  If you are a co-chair, you will NOT be able to work on the pie making line as you are there to help in case there is any problems.  Last year it ran so smooth that all the pie mom's had to do was bring the completed pies over to the pie pick-up tables. ;)    If you would like to help support the bands, this is a fun and easy fundraiser to work.

Co-Chair for Uniform Committee:  Stephanie Smith volunteered to lead the Uniform committee, but due to her time schedule, she would really appreciate it if we could find a least one if not two more parents to join her next year.  If you would like to help the Marching Band continue to look sharp when taking the field for competitions and football games, please consider this position!  (8th grade parents... if your student is interested in marching band next year, this would be a great way to help get involved with the band.  It's a great way to get to learn all the band students. :)

If you are interested in any of these positions, please email Mike Meengs at

Band Booster Meeting

Due to the month of December being a busy month for everyone, our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 14th.   Let's see if we can start the year off right foot by getting more parents in attendance. I challenge YOU to attend at least one of our band booster meetings this school year.
KeyCard Books
Just a reminder that the band is still selling the KeyCard books. This make great Christmas present for that hard to buy for person.  If you need a new Order Form (flyer) you can print one off from our website.   We also will have them at our December band concerts.  Just visit our band booster booth and you can purchase one (or more) there.
