This week, some members of our 7th and 8th grade bands had the opportunity to try a "step-up" instrument in their band hour. These instruments are either an intermediate or professional grade model of their current instrument. The sections being offered step-ups at this time are:
As students grow both physically and musically, the instrument they start with often is "maxed-out" in terms of the volume and wind speed it can handle. Furthermore, normal wear-and-tear occurs, meaning your student may not always be getting the best sound they need.
While this is a NORMAL event and your child's current instrument can sustain them through high school, a step-up model instrument is available and will enhance their experience and success in the program and for years after.
Below is further communication from Meyer Music and us as directors. If you and your student are interested in learning more about these instruments and the rent-to-own program available, you are invited to attend a meeting in the BMS Band Room on December 17. Meeting slots are available from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Even if it is a shot-in-the-dark, we invite all interested parents and students to attend!
Please complete the linked Google Form below or click here if you plan on attending!
Please let your band director know if there are further questions. Thank you and have a great rest of your week!
Dear Band Parents:
Your student’s beginning instrument was an excellent start to their musical journey and a Step-Up instrument will allow them to advance even further. Step-Up instruments are crafted from high-end woods and metals, providing students with improvements in tone, as well as additional features (such as extra keys) to assist with speed and technique.
Meyer Music representatives will be at the Baldwin Street Middle School Band Room on Tuesday, December 17 from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM to assist students and parents interested in Step-Up instruments.
Meyer offers Step-Up instruments as rent-to-own, with monthly payment plans.
If you are currently on a rent-to-own plan, you can apply accumulated rental credit toward a Step-Up, continuing the rent-to-own plan on this new instrument or purchasing outright.
If you already own your student’s beginner instrument, you can trade it in toward a Step-Up.
Meyer covers all repairs and maintenance to keep your instrument in optimal condition while you are on the rent-to-own plan and a Meyer rep comes to the school weekly to pick up instruments that need repair.
Of course, if the time or situation is not appropriate for you to change instruments now, we certainly understand. This opportunity is an offer, not a must and your student will continue to grow musically in our program!
Please fill out this short form so we will know to expect you on December 17: https://forms.gle/wZirf3yyHCTF9Z2BA We encourage you to attend and talk to the representatives, if at all possible.
