High School Concert
This Tuesday

Due to the high school bands growing in size, we once again ended up having to split the bands in half and will have two concerts this year.  Each concert will consist of the same music, just different students.

The first concert will start at 7 pm, while the second concert will start at 8:15 pm.

Please note: Due to the 2 different concerts it might create a challenging situation regarding parking/traffic.  Please allow extra time and patience getting in and out of the Hudsonville Freshman Campus.    Thank you!

We hope to see you there as the students are looking forward to playing for you!
Band Weekend

What happens when you take an all-volunteer group of middle and high school student musicians and bring them together for a weekend? You might just be surprised what they can accomplish together.

If your 7th or 8th grade Hudsonville Band student would like to join the HHS Wind Symphony for a weekend of music fun, please have them sign up! The schedule and registration is on our website.

If your student is in town on these dates and time, we highly encourage you to sign your student up.  It's a great opportunity for your band student to meet the band students from the other grades and schools that they will be in band with in a year or two,  PLUS they get a jump start on music they might be playing at their next band concert & band festival this year!
Band Weekend Dates & Times
Friday, January 10th from 5:30pm - 8:00pm
Saturday, January 11th 10:00am - 5:30pm
Concert at 4:30 pm Saturday!

Our Last Week Before Break!
Just a couple reminders:
  • Scrip: If you are planning on giving someone a gift card for Christmas, don't buy from the store, use Scrip!  That way your band student will earn some money for their band account!  Please have your order in by tonight (Sunday) so it will for sure get here by this weekend!

If you are not on Facebook, Rachael posted yesterday that she does have the following gift cards on hand and would like to sell out of them. If you shop at these locations or could use as gifts, please let me know or stop by:

    1 - JC Penny $25
    1 - Ferris Nuts & Coffee $25
    1 - Lowe's $25
    1 - Menard's $25
    1 - Office Max $25
    6 - Staples $25 ea
  • Key Card Books:  This is the last week for our Key Card books!  If you are still looking to buy (or sell) one, please get your order into your band director by Wednesday or better yet, come to the High School band concert Tuesday night and you can purchase one there!   We will have some already wrapped for you to give away as gifts!  Buy one before they are gone as I don't believe the directors have that many more left.

  • Direct Your Dollar Receipts:   If you have any  receipts laying around, PLEASE send them in by Wednesday as we will be totaling them up during Christmas Break to see where we stand for the year so far.  As of right now we are at $79,311!  Let's see how close we can get to the $100,000 mark!   Don't forget to you can ask your family, friends and neighbors this holiday season if they have any receipts they would like to donate as well!  The more families we have saving, the faster we will hit the $150,000 amount so the bands can earn another $1,000 from SpartanNash.

** We also will have a direct your dollar box at the HS band concert as well, so you can bring them there!  Just come visit us at the band booster booth. **
Step-Up Instruments
Middle & High School students

This week, some members of our 7th and 8th grade bands had the opportunity to try a "step-up" instrument in their band hour. These instruments are either an intermediate or professional grade model of their current instrument. The sections being offered step-ups at this time are:
Alto Sax

As students grow both physically and musically, the instrument they start with often is "maxed-out" in terms of the volume and wind speed it can handle. Furthermore, normal wear-and-tear occurs, meaning your student may not always be getting the best sound they need.

While this is a NORMAL event and your child's current instrument can sustain them through high school, a step-up model instrument is available and will enhance their experience and success in the program and for years after.

Below is further communication from Meyer Music and us as directors. If you and your student are interested in learning more about these instruments and the rent-to-own program available, you are invited to attend a meeting in the BMS Band Room on December 17. Meeting slots are available from 5:30  pm to 7:00 pm. Even if it is a shot-in-the-dark, we invite all interested parents and students to attend!

Please complete the linked Google Form below or click here if you plan on attending!

Please let your band director know if there are further questions. Thank you and have a great rest of your week!

Dear Band Parents:

Your student’s beginning instrument was an excellent start to their musical journey and a Step-Up instrument will allow them to advance even further. Step-Up instruments are crafted from high-end woods and metals, providing students with improvements in tone, as well as additional features (such as extra keys) to assist with speed and technique.

Meyer Music representatives will be at the Baldwin Street Middle School Band Room on Tuesday, December 17 from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM to assist students and parents interested in Step-Up instruments.

Meyer offers Step-Up instruments as rent-to-own, with monthly payment plans.

  • If you are currently on a rent-to-own plan, you can apply accumulated rental credit toward a Step-Up, continuing the rent-to-own plan on this new instrument or purchasing outright.

  • If you already own your student’s beginner instrument, you can trade it in toward a Step-Up.

Meyer covers all repairs and maintenance to keep your instrument in optimal condition while you are on the rent-to-own plan and a Meyer rep comes to the school weekly to pick up instruments that need repair.

Of course, if the time or situation is not appropriate for you to change instruments now, we certainly understand. This opportunity is an offer, not a must and your student will continue to grow musically in our program!

Please fill out this short form so we will know to expect you on December 17: We encourage you to attend and talk to the representatives, if at all possible.
