FRAMLINGHAM SURVEYS:
We have uploaded onto the website the survey feedback reports for the upcoming Coronation event, and the feedback responses for the Sound & Light event.
Castle Brooks now has a brand new notice board on the green. We are calling it Oak Tree Corner in recognition, and a big thank you, to local residents for saving the two large oak trees just nearby.
Thank you is also due to Framlingham Town Council and the Unitarian Trust for grant funding towards the costs of the noticeboard - some of which is made from recycled plastic.
The idea for this arose through our Whats App group, which started as a result of setting up Covid support and is still going strong. We decided to become more involved in maintaining our green in a way which encourages biodiversity.
The noticeboard will be a great way to let people know about the wildlife found in the park (birds, insects, plants & trees) and we hope to keep an updated species list. It will also be used post news on events happening in Castle Brooks, and local art activities.
We have met with East Suffolk Council and Norse Waveney to set up a mutually agreed management plan, one that will foster both the re-wilding and biodiversity of the park, and make it a great place for people to play and picnic. Better health and wellbeing all round.
CCTV CAMERAS ARE NOW OPERATIONAL:
CCTV System now operating in Framlingham
The CCTV system in the town centre is now compliant and up and running. The contractor has recently mounted notification signs on the lamp posts, and the licences required to operate have been agreed.
It is important to note that the images are not on display in the Town Council office, and are only viewed at the request of the police, or for maintenance purposes.
We have contacted the addresses where there is a chance someone's privacy may be compromised to ask them if they want part of the image blocked off. If anyone is concerned about their privacy in their home please contact Jim at townclerk@framlingham.com so we can show them what can be seen and if they want those parts of the images blocked.
We hope this will go some way towards solving crime issues in the town and offering some extra peace of mind to residents and businesses.
LINE PAINTING AROUND THE TOWN:
We are pleased to report that the parking bays on the Market Hill parking bays should be re-painted the week commencing 27th March. The lines around the Hill, the disabled and the motorcycle bays will also be done. The lines on the Pay and Display car park will be painted blue to highlight where the chargeable area is and signage will be displayed at the machine to explain this.
We have also heard that East Suffolk Council has now provided the necessary written consent so we
can continue the statutory process for making a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO), to deliver a parking management scheme in the town. Hopefully this will include painting extra yellow lines on Fore Street and Double Street to prevent dangerous parking that impairs drivers' visibility and accessibility.
MERE VIEWING PLATFORM FOR DISABLED PERSONS:
The Town Council is currently consulting on creating a wooden viewing platform overlooking the views of the Mere and Framlingham Castle. Currently people who have mobility issues are unable to enjoy one of the most beautiful aspects of Framlingham.
Early discussions with stakeholders have been very positive and we now have a potential site for this on New Road at the east end of Framlingham Footpath 61, a short distance north of the Allotments.
This is an opportunity for local clubs and organisations to attract new members, volunteers, or fundraising, by having fun and helping to make this an entertaining day!
Would you like to run an activity at the Coronation Picnic on the Pageant Field on Sunday 7th May?
The plan for Coronation Weekend is to watch the live Coronation ceremony in the Church on the Saturday morning. The lunchtime picnic on Sunday 7th will include entertainment and hopefully a pay bar. Local musicians and performers are invited to let us know if they would like to perform. We hope to have a good sound system set up, using the Pavilion veranda as a stage.
Please let James know if you like to join in our plans for the Coronation weekend at: townclerk@framlingham.com.
SPRING RIGHTS OF WAY WALK:
Join our friendly group of Framblers on the next Rights of Way walk on 1st April at 10am.
