A lot has happened here over the past few months and it’s time for an update!
In October we hired 4 new site coordinators to lead our Aquaponics/STEM program in 7 partner schools. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Amelia Eggan, Kevin Smith-Mahdi, Sandy Spira, and Ashley Rodrigo to the team.
In September we held our 2nd annual Basil Blitz happy hour at Casellula at Alphabet City. Over 60 people attended to sample basil-themed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails made by Casellula’s chef, hear from our wonderful Board of Directors, and watch a slideshow of photos from previous TDC events. More photos here.
In October we hosted over 40 students and 10 community volunteers at our Manchester Pool & Park Cleanup event through Pitt’s 10th annual Pitt Make a Difference. With over 150 hours of volunteer labor, we were able to clear the pool, 200 feet of fenceline, and several neighboring streets of litter, weeds, and debris. More photos here.
Support for our commercial aquaponics center and spray park is growing! We have received letters of support for the project from Councilman Dan Lavelle and school board District 8 representative Kevin Carter. We now have over 300 signatures from neighbors and community members on our Aquaponics Center & Spray Park petition.
