“Our lettuce tastes good, I like it. I would eat this.”

Antonio says as he samples the lettuce grown in his classroom in his high school biology classroom. We just celebrated our first aquaponic lettuce and cilantro harvest at Brashear and Perry High Schools! Students got to sample the flavorful greens and compare the plants to store-bought counterparts. Many of the students chimed in to let everyone know that their greens won on taste, crispness, and freshness!

Delanie Link, a student in Mr. Cupps's AP Environmental Science class at Brashear High, holds up a sample of fresh-picked aquaponic lettuce to show her classmates while aquaponics class vice president Domenic Masicola (left) looks on.
“The cilantro from our class stand up and the other one just bends over, so you can tell that the cell walls of our cilantro are stronger and probably a lot healthier” - Darian

We are excited to announce a partnership with Chef Claudy Pierre and Eminent Hospitality Solutions to bring interactive cooking and healthy eating demos to our classrooms. This week's staff demo was a huge success and we can't wait to use our aquaponically grown produce in the recipes!
