General Meeting this Friday

Greetings Astoria!!
We hope your New Year is off to a good start and we look forward to seeing you this Friday February 3rd, 8:30am in the McTavish room at the Liberty Theater (enter on 12th, 2nd floor) for our General Meeting (please note Zoom is no longer available).  Feel free to download the agenda, and below is an overview of what we'll be chatting about as well as some announcements:

Welcome Mayor Sean Fitzpatrick

Whether he is looking dapper while beautifying our downtown or looking official behind the City Hall dais, many of us know and appreciate all of the work Sean does for Astoria.  Come learn a bit more about our new Mayor and what is to come in the year ahead! 🌿

Welcome City Councilor Elisabeth Adams

You may recognize this fellow downtown business owner from Wild Roots Movement and Massage and the B-Side, now your dedicated City Councilor for Ward 3.  Say hello 👋 to Elisabeth Adams and bring your questions for downtown!

Happy 10-Year Anniversary Pilot House Distilling!
Pilot House Distilling is celebrating their 10th Anniversary this February! On Friday February 10th 5pm-8pm, at all 3 tasting rooms, they will be releasing batch #10 of Come Hell or High Water. This batch was out on the South Bay F/V shrimping. Snacks provided by South Bay wild and mini truffles made with Come Hell or High Water from the Chocolate Cafe in Cannon Beach to go along with Batch #10. Spirits and chocolate, count us in!! 💖
FisherPoets Gathering Feb 24 & 25- Volunteers Needed
FisherPoets Gathering is back and is in person, occurring at 6 venues throughout downtown. We're all a little rusty, but hopeful you'll join us to make this ship sail!  The FisherPoets Gathering has long relied on generous folks like you to grease its gears. You can learn more about this year’s event as it comes together at www.fisherpoets.org and sign up to volunteer here.  We'll see you there! ⛵
Tiny Anthems Making Headlines!
Misty Czillinger of ADHDA reached out to Mike Long of Tiny Anthems to commission a Tiny Anthem for our beloved Astoria.  Mike did such an amazing job, we recruited him for a Shop Plaid jingle and a Tiny Film for the 100-year anniversary of the 1922 fire (grab your tissues and hit play ☝️). It didn't take long for the Oregonian to notice Mike's work- catch the article with Mike and Misty here! 🎶
Sunday Market Vendor Applications Now Open

It’s true, we’re already gearing up for Sunday Market!  Interested in being a vendor?  Head this way 👉🏽 to apply online. The first round of priority applications are due by March 3rd, with rolling applications open throughout the season.  If you'd prefer a non-digital application, contact Misty at Misty@astoriadowntown.com or (503)791-9004. And thank-you to local artist Will Elias for this year's artwork! 🌼

Thank-you to our Volunteers
Did you know that over the past several years ADHDA has had over 1,000 volunteers, contributing thousands of hours of service to our community?  From collecting dollar bills at Jane Barnes Revue to scraping stickers off light poles, from pouring beer at Brew Cup to filling Coast Guard Welcome bags, from providing us with a website/tech support to helping us put up our first Christmas Tree...we want you know we see you, we appreciate you and we are so grateful you are part of this community that cares for its downtown and each other.  Thank-you to those who made it out to Volunteer Appreciation Night at the fabulous Obelisk Beer Co. with food provided by chef Marco 'not a crumb left' Davis - it was an absolute blast and we can't wait to do again 🙌 Interested in signing up to be a volunteer?  You'll find our 'join our volunteer team' form at the bottom of this page, or send us an email at office@astoriadowntown.com  We'd love to have you on board! 🫱🏼‍🫲🏾
Thank-you Rusty Cup for this Morning's Coffee
...otherwise we may not be awake 🥱 If you need your coffee on the earlier side, they are now open starting at 7am - 4pm Mon-Fri, 8am - 4pm Sat and Sun.  While you're there see if they have a copy of the Coast Weekend where you'll find a great article about them, including an unexpected photo of yours truly getting my usual 16oz Thundermuck with room for cream (which they always remember)! ☕
