California Green wishes you and your loved ones a happy, healthy, and productive new year.

Thank you for supporting California's journey to sustainability.
26 sector-specific environmental standards

We believe in a compassionate private sector - one that provides for people in a way that respects the natural treasures of California.

In 2018, we put together a framework of sustainability for 26 sectors of the economy, then certified 662 businesses. From auto shops and grocery stores to hotels and dentists, we found that resource efficiency consistently leads to operating efficiency.

$1 million invested in local communities
We are thrilled to be spearheading the transition to sustainability from the ground up. In 2018, we injected $1 million into local communities to accelerate the adoption of environmental best practices.

We now work with 34 cities and counties throughout California. These local programs are led by people grounded in their communities, working to build trust between local business and government.

Saving the planet, one (small) change at a time
Because of your efforts and good intent, all of these outcomes were achieved locally and voluntarily across the great State of California in 2018:
  • 64 million gallons of water saved
  • 110,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions avoided
  • 50 million kWh of energy saved
  • 33,000 metric tons of waste diverted from landfill
  • $7 million of utility bill dollars saved
Sustainability matters, now more than ever. And really, it's up to us.

Let's be more intentional about the choices we make. Because our decisions are never made in a vacuum - they always have an impact on the world around us.

Our everyday habits, our routine behaviors, they are always choices, never necessities.

From the workplace to the kitchen to your morning commute, compare your beliefs with your actual behaviors. And if something doesn't add up, just be the change you want to see.
