Immigration 101 Series - Fact vs Fiction

 "The Myth of 'Economics/Crime' "
The third and final session of Immigration Series 101:  FACT vs FICTION  will be held Thursday, November 14, at Immaculate Conception Church, lower level, in the St. Francis Room.  The Immigration Committee is excited to have four outstanding panelists who will present content focused on the theme, "Undocumented Immigrants: Economics and Crime".  Speakers will represent law enforcement (Sheriff Lowell Griffin, Henderson County); agribusiness (Bert Lemkes); regional economical impact (Corey Atkins); and banking (Efren Vintimilla). 

Brown bag lunch is suggested if you prefer to come at 11:00 AM.  Program will begin promptly at 11:30 and end at 1:00 PM.  
In anticipation of the crowd, arrangements have been made to park in the First United Methodist Church lot. Entrances are on Buncombe Street or 6th Avenue. The Church Street entrance to Immaculate Conception parking is entirely reserved for handicapped parking. 

HCPS Civics Education

Students engaged in effective civics education in public schools is one of the best ways to protect our democracy. HCPS Assistant Superintendent Jan King and HC School Board member Rick Wood will update community and League members with what Henderson County Public Schools are doing to prepare K-12 students for citizenship.

Let’s increase our visibility in the community by proudly wearing our logo and mission. LWVHC will make a small profit on these shirts, which will be custom printed at Vocational Solutions, a local nonprofit that provides jobs for people with disabilities.

AAUW of Hendersonville

The American Association of University Women invites the public to attend its November 8, 2019, program, “Local Legacy: Reporting on the Forgotten Suffragettes of Western North Carolina." 

Trinity Presbyterian Church, 900 Blythe Street, Hendersonville. Social time begins at 9:30, with the program scheduled to start at 10:00.
