Human Trafficking 101: A Lunch and Learn
Thursday, January 24, 2019
12:00 noon, Grace Lutheran Church
 1245 6th Ave W, Hendersonville, NC 28791

Human Trafficking happens everywhere, from the smallest of communities to large cities. The League of Women Voters Henderson County, in cooperation with the Justice and Advocacy Ministry of Grace Lutheran Church, is sponsoring a program on this critical issue.  Andrea Firpo, a representative of the FBI’s Victim Services Program, will be the speaker. The issues to be discussed include: defining human trafficking; dispelling the myths about trafficking; how to recognize its potential victims; resources for victims; and responsibilities of a victims specialist.

Bring your lunch and learn about this issue. Beverages will be provided.
Different Together:
A Community Series on Racial Reconciliation

Race is an emotionally charged issue for most Americans, whatever their racial/ethnic identity. These facilitated small group workshops provide a safe space to talk about race in America and in our communities. Learn the skills of listening to each other when there are feelings involved, and how to separate feelings from facts. Come to a better understanding of how race shapes American society and how American history and culture shape our individual lives.

LWV members are invited to attend. Sessions are hosted by Grace Lutheran Justice and Advocacy Ministry. Five Sundays, Jan. 13 & 27; Feb. 10; March 10 & 24, 3-5 p.m. Click here to open a flyer with more information. Click here to register online or call 828-693-4890.
