LWVHC UPDATES
October 6, 2019

“Voting is how we participate in a civic society - be it for president, be it for a municipal election. It's the way we teach our children - in school elections - how to be citizens, and the importance of their voice.”

Loretta Lynch

Loretta Elizabeth Lynch is an American lawyer and native of Greensboro, NC,  who served as the 83rd Attorney General of the United States from 2015 to 2017. Wikipedia

Thank you for your past support and for renewing today so we can continue to have the impact you’ve come to expect from the League!

In November the Membership Committee will inactivate the members from last year who have not yet renewed. That means anyone who has not renewed during October will also be made inactive on the national League roster, so if you were putting off your renewal, now is the time to send it in!

For your convenience we have two ways to renew this year:
1.
To ensure we have your current contact information please complete the form on our website
http://www.lwvhcnc.org/join.php and submit your payment with a credit card via PayPal (note, there is a small service fee for paying via credit card); or
2. Complete and print the form on our website and mail to us along with your check.

Thank you for your continued commitment to the League of Women Voters.  We are counting on you to renew today!

Congratulations to League Member Rick Wood

VOTE411 Team Needs Members Help
LWVHC’s VOTE411 online voter guide is live as of 10/1/2019!  YOUR vote411 team has been working to contact the 26 candidates in Flat Rock, Fletcher, Hendersonville, Laurel Park, Mills River and Saluda to get their input on our candidate’s questionnaire.  We’ve had a good response from the candidates, many have included pictures and relevant background information as well, to help voters make their choices on election day.

We would like any members who live in these jurisdictions to visit www.VOTE411.org, find what is on your ballot by entering your address, and review the information you receive.  Members who don’t live in one of the jurisdictions can help us by visiting www.vote411.org, and exploring information by state.  Please help us identify any errors or glitches in the system by testing the system and reporting any concerns to the VOTE411 team at votelwvhc@gmail.com.

We appreciate your help on our journey to provide Henderson County voters with the most up-to-date and accurate information.
League Orientation is a two-hour orientation to the League offered at varying times throughout the year. You’ll learn about League history, policies, committees, and the resources and information available on our website. Most importantly, you’ll meet other new members and have a chance to talk about how you can get involved. We recommend League Orientation for every new member, but veteran members are welcome to attend.  League Orientation meetings are announced on our website, and in emails.

The Next League Orientation  is scheduled for  Tuesday, November 12th from 10:00 am - noon at the Hendersonville Community Co-op.

Watch your email for your personal invite.

Do You Attend Public Meetings?

The Observer Team is looking for help from members who attend public meetings.  If you attend a meeting, please consider visiting this link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7KHWZY9  to report your observations. The form asks ten short questions and takes just a few minutes to complete. If you're not sure about any of the information (such as how many staff or press members were present), make your best guess. You will not be graded for a wrong answer! We are most interested in your observations about the meeting process and any issues which might relate to League positions.

Your help would be appreciated!
