- The UIF has opened a new round of Temporary Employee/Employer Relief Scheme (TERS) applications, for the period from 16 October to 31 December 2020.
- An expanded list of businesses which were affected by lockdown regulations, can claim for the COVID-19 benefit.
- However, only those who contributed to the UIF in the past, can expect payments.
TERS payments will be paid to staff whose employers were not able to operate fully due to lockdown restrictions. Only applications for affected sectors will be considered, including "any industries that form part of the value chain of the above as per the discretion of the UIF
". Access the full list of qualifying businesses here
How do you apply?
While last year, employees were allowed to apply directly along with employers, only employers can apply on behalf of their staff this time round. They need to apply via the COVID-19 TERS Online Portal
. Supporting documents for the new rounds include proof of payment to employees for previous TERS claims.
