YouTube Sunday 24 July 2022
Please pray for Jon Lees, one of our Lay Readers who gives the talk this morning.  Our theme is 'People at Prayer' & today we are looking at Daniel's prayer.  The Bible reading is Daniel 9. 1 - 19.

We pray for Margaret Hartley and her pastoral group: Ella Royle, Richard & Sharron Arnold, Dawn Sutcliffe, Margaret Whitehead, Sue & James Huntington and Gill Jowett.
We ask God's healing for Mollie Brumfitt, Helen Collins, Alice Hill, Kate Lomas, the Marsden family, Edna Morrell, Marylyn Whelan & Dennis Yeadon.
We give thanks for the life of Godfrey Lomas, and pray for Kate, Jessica, Alasdair and the wider family at this time.
Prayer requests can be submitted via email to the church office at

We were very sorry to hear of Godfrey Lomas' death last week.  His funeral will take place at TEC on Thursday 11 August at 2.00 pm.
Covid:  The Trustees noted that the Omicron variant BA.5 is causing an increase in Covid rates of illness and that a number of church members have been unwell.  It was agreed that we continue to  keep the East & West doors open during worship to maintain good airflow & that we ask everyone to allow those who are masking to sit at the back of church if they wish to do so.  The Trustees will continue to monitor the situation.
In conversation with Terry & Brian  Meet Rev Terry & Brian for conversation over a cuppa after the morning service on July 31st when they will be thinking about matters of prayer, faith and worship. If you would like to send in a question in advance then please email them directly.
WANTED : Empty large water cooler bottles (used is fine).  Offers to Rev Brian please.  Thanks (nothing to do with heatwave - it is for harvest!)
Airedale Circuit:  There are some copies of a letter from Rev Claire Stainsby to the Churches of the Airedale Circuit on the table by the East door.  Please pick one up.

The Summer 2022 edition of the Yorkshire West Methodist District newsletter is also available to collect from the table.
Bradford Cathedral has a free family activity day on Tuesday 26 July, 10.00 am - noon & 1.00 pm - 3.00 pm (booking advised) & are part of the Bradford Faith Trail on Saturday 6th August (booking essential).  Find out more in their August update HERE
The Trustees met on Wednesday 13 July  and approved the draft minutes of the previous meeting on 22 May.  If anyone would like a copy of these minutes, please put in a request to

And a few important notices arising from the meeting:
The Trustees voted to co-opt Carole O'Neill as an additional Trustee.  Grateful thanks to Carole for volunteering to help lighten the load.

Pre-pandemic, we had 2 designated Fire Marshalls at each of our 10.30 am Sunday services to help guide people out of church in the event of a fire alarm. We need to re-introduce the Marshalls now that we are back to regular worship with increased numbers.  Please can we have volunteers to go on a rota for this important role?  Contact James on

It was agreed that we would start ringing the Church bell from 10.20 am until 10.25 am as a call to worship.  (This used to be our custom prior to the building project.) This will help prepare us for going into a time of quiet before we start at 10.30 am.

The role of secretary to the Trustees is still vacant and we would welcome a church member stepping forward to attend meetings and produce minutes & agendas.  Speak to Sue Huntington if you feel you can help.
Singers Wanted!  How would you like to join the happy band of singers that is The Eldwick Church Choir? We are desperate for a few extra voices and are sure there are singers out there who need a little push in the right direction.

If you are interested please speak to Jenny Reavill, or email her on or phone 01274 563078. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Church in the Garden Working Day
Saturday 30th July will be a working day in the garden, from 11.00 am until we have had enough at about 3.00 pm
We really would like to invite anyone and everyone to come along to do a bit of digging, moving mulch, weeding and planting.  However, we would also welcome folk to come and sit and cheer on the workers, or make a cuppa or make a cake.  It’s a family thing so please drop in to work or to enjoy the view.
It would be helpful if you think you can come to let Julie, Jeanette, or Andy know.  Grateful thanks. Julie
I have changed the Prayer Tree to the Summer Season (Hurrah!).  Please write your prayers of penitence or thanks on a card from the box and peg it on the prayer tree.  Many thanks.
Judy Ash
Anne and Alan Brown are joining the 2022 Morecombe Bay walk to raise money for the charity Prevent Breast Cancer.  Eight wet and muddy miles across Morecombe Bay (with a guide!)

If you would like to make a contribution, we would be very grateful.  You can either give online via the JustGiving website, using the link:

or give some money to Alan or Anne and we will add it to the funds.  Thank you
Many thanks to everyone who came to the recent Eldwick Church Fellowship coffee evening.  We have been able to send £312 to Action for Children as a result of this.

We have also been able to send £500 to Holme Wood for their food bank.  This was from donations in the last three months, topped up from the mission budget.  Rev Helen writes,
"Grateful thanks - as ever! For the continued generosity and kindness of the amazing folk at TEC! THANK YOU!"

And last, but not least, we have sent £250 to Water Aid.  This was from donations for Sunday coffee again topped up from the mission budget.
Coffee money for the next three months will be for Christians Against Poverty who are finding that there is increased demand for their services helping people navigate their way through debt problems.
