We are sad to hear about the death of Marjorie Terry on 27 August at Cottingley Hall Care Home.  Prior to her stay at the care home she was a long standing member of our congregation.  She had reached her 99th year.  Funeral details to follow.
Sunday 29 August is the 5th Sunday of the month, when we focus on mission.  This week, we have a guest speaker to talk about Rock House, a Christian charity based in Malaysia which helps the poor and vulnerable.

For those at church in person, there will be a retiring collection for Rock House.  Alternatively, you can do an online bank transfer to the Eldwick Church, putting 'Rock House' in the reference box.  Cheques made out to the Eldwick Church can be posted c/o Sharron & Richard Arnold, labelled 'Rockhouse'.  Contact the church office if you don't have the Arnold's address!  Finally, you can donate to Rock House via the church website,
There will be an informal service of Holy Communion at 9.15 am at TEC on Sunday 5 September, followed by Morning Worship at 10.30 am.  All are welcome at either (or both!)

Also on Sunday 5th, there's a Welcome service for the new staff joining the Airedale Circuit.  This takes place at 3.00 pm at Keighley Shared Church.  Due to restrictions on numbers, the service will be live-streamed into Silsden Methodist Church for folk who wish to gather in person.  If you wish to attend, please click the link HERE to book a free ticket.  The service will also be available on Zoom and YouTube; details to follow.
Finding a new Minister for TEC

"As most of you know, since our previous minister Peter Mayo Smith retired last July we have been actively looking for a new minister.  During late Summer/Autumn of 2020 we interviewed two people (on two separate occasions) for the post but neither of them seemed to be the right person for Eldwick.  It then became increasingly difficult to source a new minister as clergy were generally unwilling to move during Covid, so the trustees agreed not to advertise again at that time.

Following further discussions with the Diocese a new approach is now being considered.  Bishop Toby has suggested a candidate for us who would work full time in a shared post – i.e. they will have responsibility for more than one church.  This has been agreed as a potential way forward, and an interview has been scheduled for 11th September.

Unfortunately, no further information can be given at the moment as we have been asked to keep most of the details of the post confidential. As soon as we can tell you more, we will.  In the meantime, can we ask you to pray, pray and pray again about this – that God will show both the candidate and the interview panel clearly whether this is the right person for Eldwick."

Anne Brown & Julie Smith on behalf of the Trustees.
Church craft club starts again on Wednesday 1st September 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm. All are welcome. Just £1 a week and that includes a cuppa and a biscuit.

Folk can either bring their own knitting, sewing or craft and enjoy the company, or we sometimes work together on a range of crafts to provide displays for the church and for charity.

Thank you to everyone who helped make our Gala efforts a success.  After subtracting expenses, we raised around £900.
Mission Giving
From Rev Barbara Walls, on behalf of the Bingley Foodbank"To the generous people of Eldwick Church from Bingley Foodbank.  Jackie has informed me that many of you have been giving her financial donations for the Foodbank so that we can go and buy what we need when there are shortages.  Thank you for this and for the food donations you make.  We would not be able to function without the donations so many people make and on behalf of the Foodbank I want to say thank you.  Incidentally, earlier in the year when we had plenty of some types of food we were able to pass this on to Helen and Gary for the work they are doing in their ‘new’ Parish.  It was really good to see Helen when she came on two occasions to collect the food.
So thank you for all the help you give us."
The Bingley Foodbank is currently short of long life milk, tinned custard and jam.
Calling all jam and chutney makers!  I have lots of jars going spare, various sizes.  Please contact me if you would like any. Thanks Jenny Dunn  07932 624350
Friday Night Bible Takeaway is taking a break for the Summer and will return in September.
Please close the gate!
If you are the last car out of the car park, please remember to close the gate and latch it at the top.  Many thanks
