Sunday services   During Advent we are exploring a new theme, Who are we expecting?  This morning it's 'the righteous king.' The reading is Zephaniah 3. 14-20; please pray for our speaker, our new Minister Rev Brian Greenfield.
Messy Christingle Update:  Due to the evolving Covid situation, Messy Christingle will run in a slightly different format on Saturday 18th.  We won't now need tin cans or foliage.
Action for Children  Thank you to all helpers and supporters for our Christmas Coffee Morning, we are very pleased to announce that we raised the marvellous sum of £530.00.
Help Wanted and Thank-yous
This is a call out for mince pies, both for Carols by Candlelight and for Light Up Nativity.  Please sign up on the sheet by the door.  It would be very helpful if you could indicate how many mince pies you will be providing. We don't have any freezer space so would appreciate donations as near to the event as possible.  Thank you.

We also need more people to help with Light Up Nativity on Christmas Eve - there is a sign up sheet in Church where you can offer your help: before, after or during the event!

Thank you to those people who have donated Christmas tree fairy lights.  If there are any more spare, we would be very grateful.
Mission Giving Updates:
  • We have received a Christmas update letter from Kathryn Mercy Homes, who we support through our Mission giving.  The newsletter can be viewed HERE.
  • Thank you to everyone who gave to the Fund For Human Need collection following the recent service about generosity.  We have topped up the money given from our mission budget and have sent £300.  Sharron.
  • Winter Fuel Allowances  It is that time of year again and many of us are receiving our winter fuel allowances from the government.  Some of us may not need all of it and, as in previous years, we are inviting those who are able to donate to send what they can to the church for us to pass on to Holme Wood.  Given the increase in fuel bills and the removal of the Universal Credit top up, we know that there is even more need there than before.  If you are able to give anything please send a cheque made payable to The Eldwick Church to Sharron, with a note to say what it is for.  If you want to make an electronic transfer please note Winter Fuel in the narrative or if, like me, you struggle to do this, please email me and I will make sure that it is correctly allocated.
News from the Airedale Circuit:
The Airedale Newsletter for December is now available HERE

Sarah the Town Centre worker in Keighley has informed the Circuit office that the ‘street community’ she works with could benefit from  hats, gloves, or more importantly hot water bottles.   If you have any of these things to donate please contact either Sarah on 07710 673192 or Sharon Longman on 07904 883491.

Glenda Coogan is leading Advent Study sessions at 10.00 am at various chapels:
13 December at Cowling
20 December at Steeton
All are welcome to attend.

A message from the Superintendent of the Circuit, Rev Clare Stainsby

" It is good that this Advent and Christmas season we are able to worship in our churches and meet together.  However we do still need to be cautious as Covid is still around.     We are suggesting that on a regular basis you carry out a lateral flow test before going to a gathering of any kind.     Please go to the following link to order free tests for yourself.
We would also encourage mask wearing in church wherever possible.  Thank you for looking after yourself and others.
Clare Stainsby
I have changed the Prayer Tree to the Advent season. Please feel free to write your prayers of petition or thanks on a card from the box and peg it on the tree.  Thank you, Judy Ash.
