C4S eNews - January 2019

The competition has begun !

The year-long C4S competition (2019) is starting this January in all eight countries (CY, DE, ES, FR, HR, HU, IT and LV) involved in the project. The success of each building's energy team will depend on how well they team up to work together towards common goals and save energy. The best teams with the highest energy savings will be awarded at C4S' series of national conferences happening next year.
In the meantime, 32 local authorities from all eight countries already compete since the beginning of C4S for the best Energy Management System in place. The success of each municipal energy team will also depend on teamwork across multiple departments and facilities, and the related energy savings they can cooperatively achieve through EnMS - also to be awarded in 2020.
All teams are being supported by C4S' hard work also going into gathering relevant resources for cities. Learn more below about C4S' new Energy Management System Guidebook for Local Authorities.
Energy-Saving Trainings have been held in all partner countries.  Croatian cities pictured above in December 2018.

Energy Management System Guidebook for Local Authorities

The purpose of this guidebook is to guide the reader through the process of establishing an effective EnMS system for a local authority. The guideline covers the meaning and benefits of an EnMS based on the international Standard “ISO 50001: Energy management systems – Requirements with guidance for use". Even though the ISO 50001 initially was designed for industries, local authorities are appropriate institutions to apply such a systematic approach towards the reduction of their own energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
The guidebook is based on the structure of the ISO 50001 standard. Experience shows that there is no unique recipe, it is more of an open process. You can start from the first points mentioned in this document, like the creation of an Energy Team and/or Energy Policy, or you can also start from the point of data gathering and monitoring. Using the web page, you can select individual chapters or download the entire guidebook.
