Helen McGhie | Photography & Research | Winter 2020

Season’s Greetings

Dear friends and colleagues,

Hope you’re looking forward to the Christmas break. I’m planning to spend some much needed time away from my computer screen! Here’s my winter news…

I’m thrilled to share my Photomonitor interview with Christiane Monarchi, where we discussed looking up at the cosmos, Kielder Forest and my developing PhD research.

'KOas', Helen McGhie. (Extract), 2020.

I’ve been working on a new film ‘KOas’, with footage shot over the last year at Kielder Forest and observatory. It’s a science-fiction film, without narrative. This is still a work in progress, watch this space…

Looking ahead…

I will be exhibiting new site-specific work in Dalby Forest (North York Moors National Park) from March 2021. The group exhibition is part of SelfScapes, a new research cluster at York St John University, exploring the relationship between self and its environment.
