Habitat for Humanity Build
|
|
We are putting together a group of volunteers to again do a Habitat for Humanity Build on Friday June 10th. There will be two shifts, with 10 volunteers for each shift. The morning shift is from 8:15 to 11:30 and the afternoon shift is from 12:30 to 4. We will schedule a lunch in between the shifts so that our entire group can hang out for a bit that day.
Please register at the following link: https://gdmhabitat.secure.force.com/volunteer/VolunteersJobListingFSGDM?jobId=a0G4N00000FoDWuUAN
We also have a FAQ page if you would like to check that out: https://gdmhabitat.org/volunteer/faq/

While technically the chapter year goes through the end of June, the Spring Fling has always represented the end of the ASHRAE chapter year for me. A big thank you goes out to everyone who helps put the event together, the sponsors and for everyone who signed up. We had a completely full event this year and that goes a long way towards meeting our chapter goals for RP donations. The golf outings are a lot of fun but are also a centerpiece to our chapter’s goals. A true win-win!
As I’ve been a part of the board and eventually president, I learned that there is a lot of effort that goes on behind the scenes to make a vibrant and healthy chapter. The experience of the board and decisions that have been made prior by previous boards and presidents have shaped the chapter we are today. I hope we have been able to build on that a little bit this year. I encourage anyone who is even curious about how the ASHRE Iowa chapter works to contact anyone on the board to see what opportunities there are.
The Spring Fling was the last chapter meeting until the Fall outing but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do until then.
The Chapter Regional Conference (CRC) is in Minneapolis this year from May 18th-20th – less than a week away! Check out the CRC website for more information. https://ashrae6crc.org/index.php
The Habitat for Humanity day is back again. It will be Friday, June 10th with a morning and afternoon session. There are limited slots so be sure to sign up when you see the e-mail invite.
YEA (Young Engineering in ASHRAE) is working on a summer event or two as well.
Thank you,
Tyson Scheidecker

Iowa ASHRAE Chapter Bylaws
|
|
Chapter bylaws can be found at HERE. The BOG will be making updates to the bylaws as recommended by Society. We encourage membership to review these changes.
|
|
This year, the BOG is encouraging you to donate online in an effort to save paper and increase the efficiency of the RP donation process. Please visit the ASHRAE RP Donation page here. ASHRAE provides options for you to determine where to place your donation. The Iowa Chapter is looking to increase its endowment and would appreciate it if you would place your donation in the box available next to “Endowed Research via ASHRAE Foundation”, check the box indicated that you understand that those funds are restricted for the support of ASHRAE Research, and put “Iowa Chapter” in the “Existing Fund Name (If known):” box. From there it’s as simple as any other online purchase with a credit card.
Don’t forget that ASHRAE is a 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions are deductible as allowed by law. A receipt will be sent to the address listed above.
If you would still prefer to donate by check or have any further questions about the donation process, please contact Laura Russo or Nick Seymour.
Thank you for your donation!
