Dear Friends,

Next Tuesday the World Trade Organization (WTO) TRIPS General Council meets again in Geneva to decide the way forward on the landmark proposal to waive monopolies on lifesaving COVID-19 medical tools – vaccines, tests, treatments, and more.

We are preparing to call once more on the opponents of the waiver – Germany, the UK and others – to stop blocking the waiver.

Ahead of the action, we want to thank you for all your amazing support so far for the #NoCovidMonopolies campaign, and share a Timeline of what we have all achieved together over the last few months.

Whether you sent a tweet to the US and German heads of state, or worked on the banner drop action on the grounds of the WTO in Geneva, or held a protest outside key embassies, or signed an Open Letter in support of the waiver – or even just shared some of these moments on social media – you have been part of this movement for change!

Today over 100 countries support the waiver, first proposed in October last year.  It’s an inspiring achievement – and motivates us all to do more together to make the waiver a reality and save many more lives in this pandemic.

Watch out for our Twitter storm alert on Monday 26th July. We will tell Germany and the UK to stop obstructing the waiver proposal that could save millions of peoples’ lives in developing countries.

Thank you!
